Vintage Manchester Awards

On Wednesday 17th October Vibrant Vintage headed to the Vintage Manchester awards, where we had been nominated for the “best vintage fair” awards.

Prior to attending the awards I visited the lovely Alice Kitty Wink McMath who did my hair and make up.  It was great to catch up with Alice who is a very talented vintage hair and make up artist running her own vintage glamour make up classes as well as Vintage Network Northwest.  My make up was lovely and my hair was a work of art

Then the whole team got our glad rags on for the awards.  I wore a stunning midnight blue 1950’s evening dress with a 50’s tapestry handbag complete with matching purse, mirror and comb.  Kath wore a sparkly black evening dress with a 50’s handbag with art deco style clasp.  While Wayne wore his tux, accessorised with a tootle white evening scarf.

We were met with some yummy mini cupcakes provided by Pin ups in Pinnies and drank Old J Rum cocktails.  We then sat at our table where we were entertained by Suzie Sequin and host Kiki DeVille.  Anthony of Jazzswingdance gave a reading from his book, took photos and provided his beautiful 1925 Aston Martin to be the back drop of photographs, I still have car envy.

Then we waited eagerly for the results and our category was up first.  Although we didn’t win the award for best vintage fair we are very proud to have been nominated and would like to say a huge thanks to all those who voted for us.  It was such a fab feeling to be in the final as we have only be organising fairs for a year in the North West of Manchester in the Bolton and Wigan area.

All nominees were worthy to be in the final and it was great to meet some new businesses that I wasn’t aware of and hopefully more people are aware of our fairs that we organise.  After the awards and lots of photos we decided to head home, only to discover that our car was locked in a multi story car park.  After a lot of panicking (plus it had started to rain at this point) we eventually discovered a way in to collect our car!

The event was a great night and chance to enjoy ourselves.  When we went to our vintage stall on Westhoughton on Thursday we were met with a huge card from all of the other traders congratulating us on our achievement and getting through to the final.  So I would like to thank every body once again for their support, we look forward to seeing you soon at our huge vintage and retro craft fair at the impressive Haigh Hall.

Haigh Hall Vintage and Retro Craft Fair

Vibrant Vintage are hosting our second vintage, retro craft and collectable fair at Haigh Hall on Sunday 18th November, 10am-4pm.  The fair will take place at the impressive Haigh Hall.  There will be a singer, brass band in the hall, a pop up hair and make up salon and mulled wine, along with a selection of lovely stalls.  The venue is perfect to put you in the Christmas mood with open fires and decorations.  Admission is £1 and you can come and go all day.

Starting a blog

I have been meaning to write a blog for a number of months now as I am always going to different vintage fairs, meeting lots of lovely people, buying many beautiful things, organising vintage fairs and meeting beautiful retro models on photo shoots.   I am Victoria and I am one third of Vibrant Vintage, the other two thirds are Wayne and Kath.

The Vibrant Vintage Team

I have recently finished writing a LL.M in law and now have a bit more time on my hands to write a blog.  Over the next few weeks I will also be looking at getting the website up and running as we have some lovely clothing and accessories to sell.

I am also very busy preparing for our last fairs of the year.  We are at the Mercury Hotel, Westhoughton on Sunday 7th October 12-5pm.  This is one of my favourite fairs as the venue owners are very welcoming and the fair itself is intimate with 16 stalls giving it a lovely warm and friendly atmosphere.  I always end up spending a fortune.

Heart Unique at the Mercury vintage fair

The our last vintage and retro craft fair of the year will take place at Haigh Hall on Sunday 18th November 10am-4pm.  This is a huge fair with a great range of vintage, retro craft and collectable stalls coming and even a pop up hair salon.  The fair will take place in the impressive Haigh Hall that will have Christmas decorations, open fires, mulled wine to get you in the Christmas mood.

View from Haigh Hall

Finally, the business has been nominated as a finalist to win “best vintage fair” in the Vintage Manchester awards.  I am very shocked and excited to be in the final three as the other two fairs in the category are huge fairs in the Manchester area.  If you have been to one of our fairs and enjoyed it, please do vote for us to win by logging onto the Vintage Manchester site.  Plus the best thing about being a finalist is that I have been invited to an awards ceremony.  Now all I need to do is decide what to wear.
