Vibrant Vintage have been invited by Wigan Heritage Services to participate in a family event on Saturday 10th September 2011 on and around the Civic Square in Leigh, as part of the heritage Open Days Scheme. The theme of this year’s event is Celebrating the 1970’s.
Following a newspaper article by the Bolton Evening News about our 70’s Day on Westhoughton Market the Leigh Heritage team approached us with a view to participating in an event that they were organising in Leigh. The event was to celebrate the opening, 40 years earlier, of the Library and the Town Hall. The civic buildings were to be opened to the public with entertainment and activities for children. Leigh Heritage planned to host a 70’s day on the Civic Square as the buildings were opened in the 1970’s.
Vibrant Vintage was invited to go along to the heritage event and display our clothes, hats, bags and accessories from the 70’s. We even managed to find an original ‘Space Hopper’ thanks to the very kind lady on Freecycle.
On September 10th we went along to the civic Square and set up our gazebo and stall. Despite the windy conditions and the gazebo nearly blowing away we had a great day and met lots of lovely people. We’ve even been invited back next year!
